Determination of Limit Deposition Velocity and Viscosity in Waste Brines Transported in Pipelines

The wastewater generated in the potash mines of Bages region Catalonia (Spain) was experimentally tested at Paterson & Cooke slurry test facility Cape Town, South Africa, to determine flow behavior and limit deposition velocity various brine brine-slurry mixtures containing a low solids concentration fine insoluble particles. tests measured velocity, viscosity, resistance range different concentrations solid particles suspension, they are presented discussed this paper. Tests were conducted on slurries using both water (WT) saturated (BT) as medium for sediment. In order replicate possible situations that could occur during their transport pipeline, with relatively sediment concentrations, always less than 5% by volume. data showed equivalent is higher WT BT due differences kinematic viscosity medium. Finally, obtained trends moderately upward volume increases, although presents some particularities subsequently described.
